BOCC Reviews Master Plan Process

Pitkin County Commissioners will hear an update on the Aspen/Pitkin Airport Master Plan process at a public meeting on March 15 at 11 a.m.  The meeting will be held in the Plaza One Conference Room, 530 E. Main, Aspen.

Airport Facility Planning Charrettes

Public Airport Facility Planning Charrettes will be held January 11 and 13. The public is encouraged to attend to give input into planning for all airport facilities including the terminal, fixed base operation, hangars and more.

The public charrettes will be held Tuesday, January 11 and Thursday, January 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. Both meetings take place at the Airport Operations Facility on Owl Creek Road on the west side of the runway.

Public Meeting on Master Plan Update

A meeting with the Airport Master Plan Study Committee takes place December 9 at 10 a.m.  Attendees can meet team members, learn about Master Plan Update project and its goals, and offer feedback on the project.

The meeting takes place at the Airport Operations Center on Owl Creek Road.  This meeting is open to the public.

County Commissioners Approve Runway Extension - July 14

On July 14, 2010, Pitkin County Commissioners approved the Aspen Airport’s land use application for the runway extension project. The preferred alternative to extend the runway 1,000 feet toward Buttermilk was selected because it best meets the needs of the airport in terms of safety, efficiency, environmental and economic consequences. Construction drawings and specifications for the improvements have been prepared and construction is scheduled to begin in 2011.
